Chronology of conflict

[edit]

In 2004, Mark Richards wrote a section about the conflict in Maluku, that lasted from 1999 to 2002. Over the years, this section has been modified by several by several users, who may not always have had a neutral point of view. This lasted until 22 may 2008, when somebody (probably accidently) removed everything from halfway august 2000 to the bottom of the article. This has never been repaired.

In my opinion, this section should be removed from this article, for the following reasons:

  1. This conflict did not only affect the province Maluku, but also areas that are now part of North Maluku. Because of that, something about this conflict already has been written in Maluku Islands#The 1999-2003 inter-communal conflict.
  2. It is far from complete, because somebody removed most of the section in 2008.
  3. When the situation of before 22 may 2008 is to be repaired, the section might not have a neutral point of view.
  4. This section does not cite any references or sources.

Unless somebody comes with good arguments not to remove this section from this article, it should be removed.

Of course, the data in this section can be used to improve the article about Maluku Islands, or to write a completely new article.

I agree. But make sure you include a link to the information - it might be on a separate page as you suggest. --Merbabu (talk) 22:01, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done: I have removed the section. The content of the full section, as it was before last last part was deleted in 2008, can still be seen at //en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Maluku_(province)&oldid=210771273. I hope that somebody will be able to write a good article about it later. --Tjibbe I (talk) 20:47, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A new (28 Dec 2010) article - "good" or otherwise - is at Maluku sectarian conflict --Merbabu (talk) 09:26, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since when a province?

[edit]

At the beginning of the article it says All the Maluku Islands formed a single province of Indonesia from 1950 until 1999. At the end of the article it says On August 19, 2012 coinciding with the 67th anniversary of Maluku province, […].

I have yet to find any official documentation from around that time that supports either 1950 or 19 august 1945 as the day that the province (or Daerah Tingkat I) was founded. --Tjibbe I (talk) 09:22, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question. Although the image has not been deleted from Commons, the reason given still should be taken seriously. It is said there, that Indonesian provinces do not have flags, this is simply a computer graphic made by the image creator based on the coat of arms with a plain background. Can someone with knowledge confirm this? If true, surely there should not be an invented flag in the infobox. Sussexonian (talk) 20:21, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sussexonian: Per indonesian law please read this, additional see on my talk page. OktaRama2010 (talk) 20:55, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
